The shade is designed to fit into a Handel double arm or single arm lamp and wall sconce. The shade stands approximately 6 1/8" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/2" at the bottom of the shade. The 8 sided top portion of the shade measure 3 7/8 from flat side to flat side or 4 1/8 from point to opposite point. The fitter neck is 2 3/16" and will fit into any standard 2 1/4" fitter. The shade is absolutely beautiful. It displays an allover Arts and Crafts motif with a frosted or etched exterior to the cylindrical part of the shade. This area has an overshot sand textured background with the top of the shade done in a light. This is accented with some gold details to accentuate the lines of the glass. It is further formed with an 8 sided "roof" above the cylinder shape to add interest. They almost appear to be broad based leaves as the green overlaps the edge coming down to a point. The cylinder part of the shade has a 4 repeat raised pattern done in light green complimentary to the top and outlined in gold. This shade would fit very well in an Arts and Crafts or Southwestern decorated home. This shade can be used on a wall sconce as well.
The shade is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks or dings anywhere. The exterior fitter of the shade has grinding marks that were done in the making.
They are very fine and do not detract from the shade. There are a few chips that are larger but again, done in the making and grinding process and not from fitter screws. If you are a shade collector this is an almost perfect example. The shade is not signed but I have attributed this to have been made by The Handel Lamp Company or they imported it for their exclusive use. When I find this style of shade a Handel Lamp or chandelier has always been attached to it.
The last pictures shows a pair of these shades on a sale from Rago Auctions and they are on a Handel Double Arm Student Lamp. I have seen this combo at least 1/2 dozen times through my 49 years as a dealer and collector. If they didn't make them I believe they had exclusive right as I have never seen these shades on any other makers lamp repeatedly. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for.
